English to Czech translator and proofreader

I offer the following services:

  • English to Czech translation (I can also help if you need to have a text translated from Czech to English; if you require translation of a text on a subject, which is not one of my specialist areas, I can recommend a colleague who could help you),
  • proofreading (checking just the Czech or target text for spelling, grammatical and stylistical accuracy) or editing (comparing the Czech text with the English or source text to identify any possible missing parts and checking for spelling, grammatical and stylistical errors),
  • localisation (adapting the text so that it is well understood by the Czech target audience),
  • linguistic validation of questionnaires (PRO), linguistic analysis (analysis or description of words and/or other text segments), linguistic review,
  • teaching translation (concentrating on the practical aspects of translation process rather than the theory).

My priority is personal and professional approach to every single job I undertake and good and clear communication with my clients.

Currently I am able to translate approximately 2000 to 3500 words per day, depending on the nature, complexity and format of the source text. I use translation technology (software MemoQ Translator Pro 9.12, compatible with both Trados and Wordfast) to ensure high quality and consistency of the translated texts.

When proofreading or editing, I can check approximately 1000 words per hour (depending again on the subject, complexity of the text and quality of the translation). This is usually sufficient to identify any potential issues and correct them.

However technical or complex your document is, your message will always be translated appropriately and address the target audience in a suitable style and tone. I carefully proofread my translations to avoid spelling errors and maintain the original layout. If after the delivery of completed work you need small amendments or have other queries, I will be more than happy to help you to resolve any issues.

Rates

I charge in accordance with the current market rates (please contact me for more information), normally on the basis of the number of words in the text or the number of hours the text will take to translate or proofread. The texts vary in complexity, formatting and urgency, so it is impossible to set one general rate. For urgent work (within 24 hours) there is a 30% surcharge.

I accept payments by bank transfer, UK cheque or PayPal. Advance payment will be required from private clients.
